Electrical Design Engineer
We are currently seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to work as an integral part of our growing engineering team. The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and analysis of battery management and motor control systems. He or she should be able to perform engineering design evaluations, recommend alterations to existing designs to improve quality and performance as well as take a lead role in the development of new hardware and system applications.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Act as primary designer for the development of innovative new systems and hardware
- Maintain existing systems (fix bugs and develop new features)
- Build and test new prototypes and work with integrated circuit designer to build reliable components
- Act as mentor to other engineers and work as a group to develop the overall ability of the department
- Work with technicians to help resolve issues with existing systems and support the sales team as a technical resource
Qualifications:
- BS in Electrical Engineering is a minimum
- Minimum of 3-5 years of directly related experience in hardware design, microchip controllers and embedded software
- Knowledge of C/C++ and CAN communication is a must
- Experience with assembly language and MP-Lab is highly desirable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Mechanical Design Engineer
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to work with our growing engineering design group. This Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of vehicle chassis and related mechanical hardware and components.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Act as a primary designer of tube steel vehicle chassis using Solidworks 2010
- Produce drawings for fabrication of both steel and fiberglass parts
- Perform general calculations to analyze structural integrity and vehicle performance characteristics
- Work with other team members to integrate sub-systems and components into the chassis design
- Evaluate prospective equipment suppliers and contractors
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical engineering is a minimum
- Minimum 3-5 yrs of directly related experience producing fabrication drawings using Solidworks
- Working knowledge of vehicles, vehicle components, and associated systems is necessary
- Knowledge and experience working with Federal Safety Standards and Design Guidelines is highly desirable
- Experience with Class "A" surface modeling is a plus
- Ability to deal with broad cross-functional issues
- Excellent oral/written communication and analytical skills
Regulatory Compliance Specialist
We are currently seeking a Regulatory Compliance Specialist to work within our engineering group. This employee reports to the Engineering Manager and serves as the subject matter expert for all federally mandated motor vehicle safety standards and design requirements. .
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Developing and implementing a comprehensive program to establish compliance to all necessary regulations for road-going vehicles
- Research of applicable, federal, state and international guidelines and standards
- Act as primary compliance officer on any and all matters requiring clarification
- Determining the compliance of existing and future vehicle components and systems
- Representing the company in all matters regarding compliance issues
- Communicating with governmental agencies and presenting any cases which may require a request for exemption or modification
- Develop and maintain a centralized file containing master procedure manuals, forms, federal and state manuals, international regulations, programs and directives from all applicable authorities
- Provide technical assistance to engineers in overcoming regulatory issues
- Identify needed changes in established standards and coordinate a process for their revision
- Provide reports and documentation as required to interpret the regulations accurately and as intended
Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering is preferred (Candidates with applicable legal degrees or experience may be considered)
- Minimum of 3-5 years of directly related experience
- Extensive knowledge of NHTSA, FMVSS, and Tire and Wheel Association mandates and SAE design guidelines
- Skill in applying a full range of fact finding, problem solving and investigative techniques
- Ability to interpret and explain laws, regulations, standards and common practices
- Excellent organizational skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills are a must
